Amsterdam Pride is an annual LGBTQ+ festival held in Amsterdam, celebrating love, diversity, and acceptance. One of the most iconic features of the event is the Canal Parade, where 80 colorful boats representing different organizations, communities, and causes float through the city's historic canals. This vibrant and festive atmosphere draws visitors from around the world and has become a symbol of LGBTQ+ rights and visibility.
The Amsterdam Pride takes place in the end of July/early August and lasts for a week, featuring various activities, including parties, performances, discussions, and cultural events aimed at raising awareness about LGBTQ+ issues. The first Amsterdam Pride took place in 1996, and it has since grown into one of the largest and most well-known pride events in the world.
In addition to the Canal Parade, Amsterdam Pride often includes the "Pride Walk," where participants march through the city streets to show solidarity and support for the LGBTQ+ community. The festival emphasizes themes of inclusivity and acceptance, aiming to foster dialogue and promote equality for all sexual orientations and gender identities.
This year the Canal Pride will take place August 2nd!
